In 1965, seven charter members established the Oklahoma City Woodcarvers Club as a nonprofit organization to promote an interest in, and appreciation of, woodcarving.
The club thrives on an interested, active membership that devotes its time and talents to a variety of programs which include
- instruction
- demonstration
- workshops
- exhibitions
- and social functions
In addition the OCWC maintains a library of
- books
- patterns
- and videotapes on the subject of wood carving
The officers of the Club are elected by the members
Volunteer committees are formed to handle various duties and functions
The Club publishes this

- a monthly newsletter
- and maintains a directory of its membership
