Rose State Woodcarving Pete Zachry has again accepted the position to teach woodcarving in the Seniors Program at Rose State College. There will be one change this year -- the tuition will be $40.00 for the semester. The year begins in late August so students need to get their applications in by the middle of that month. The College requires ten students in order for them to continue with the class. The woodcarving class began in the 1970's with Clint Thompson as the instructor. Applications can be submitted by telephone (733-7392) or via the internet (not yet ready, but will be in a couple of weeks). The easiest method is a credit/debit card over the telephone. Of course you can come by the office and pay direct; however, the Steed Building (where they are located) is currently under renovation and they are temporarily located in the Training Center (a new building a few blocks north on Hudiburg Drive). Either way, the girls in the office will be more than happy to help you enroll. Classes meet on Monday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 and are informal in that each student works his/her own project at their own pace. The is usually some group instruction, specially for beginning carvers; however, there is often some joint practice sessions, also. |

Fourth Saturday Still Going Strong |
|
carver is welcome -- one does not need to be a OCWC Member to take part. Should a carver have need of help carving, sharpening, designing, or just talking about woodcarving, this is a great place to be on every fourth Saturday. The group meets at the Wickline Methodist Church in Midwest City once each month (except holidays) at 9:00 AM and they breakup sometime after lunch. Many of the carvers bring their lunches so the good times continue uninterrupted. Should help be needed in finding the location one may call Pete Zachry at 732-2888 (in no answer try the cell phone at 501-5390). Earl Cox, Quimby Enterline, or Clint Thompson would also be more than happy to help you find the carve-in. |
