Wichita Show…….
OCWC
was well represented at the

recent Wichita show.  Ron Schessl took three blues, and three reds.  James Hooper took two reds and one white.   Steve Brandt took two whites.

Here are some pictures from the Wichita show last month, thanks to Steve Brandt.  Left top is Ron and Beverly Schessl at their table.  James Hooper and Steve Brandt share a table shown in the top right.  Steve said that some amazing carving was to be seen at the show.

Bottom left is the life size work of Gerald Copeland.

Bottom right is the work of Lionnel Watts.

Looking Ahead
The June meeting will have some special activities relating to the Show and to Desiree Hajny’s classes after the show.  Our judge will be teaching two three-day seminars and we will need to let her know well in advance which projects we would like to have her include. Most likely there will be two choices for each of the two classes. Usually, the primary project is included in both sessions and a second choice is available for each class. The maximum projects available will be four, but the normal is three.

Hopefully, we can have pictures of the various choices early enough that they can be announced in the June newsletter. At the June meeting we will try to reach a consensus on this issue so we can let her know, giving her ninety days to get everything ready.

It is expected that one of her personal choices will be a buffalo wall hanging. This is a carving consisting of several buffalo heads carved partially in relief and partially in the round. She had a similar style carving at our show last year; however, the subjects were tigers in one and rabbits in the other. Photographs of these carving will be available at the May meeting.

Those who want in these classes might want to think of signing up (with a deposit) early to ensure a spot at the table. Interest is really high for these classes and they very well may fill well in advance of the SHOW, so be ready.
