Text Box: November Program—NEED A HAND? Well, carve this one. At the Nov. meeting we will all have a hand—one to carve, that is. The program will be “How to Carve an Open Hand”. Bring your tools and we’ll make some chips and have some fun. Sharp tools are best. P.Z.

You should take advantage of these General meeting programs. Your editor used what was learned in the program on carving a closed fist, and won a blue ribbon at the State Fair! (see ‘BEWARE’ on page 5)

The Midwest City Library show and demonstration held on 30 August 2008 was a success.  Lots of room to carve, lots of folks coming by to watch and good facilities for our club members.  Carvers that participated were

Les Stotler, Richard Dalke, David Rogers, Pete Zachary, Earl Cox, John Amicon and Bob Smith.
These same folks left some of their carvings at the library for display in the main lobby during the month of September.  E.C.

And while you are thinking about it, only a few days till show time.
COUNT DOWN Have you got your table, have you fully loaded up on show tickets?  Don't forget, they are only $2 in advance but $4 the day of the show!  Have you improved your chances of winning the grand prize by buying more grand prize drawing tickets?  Give Richard a call, he can mail you the tickets you need, or be sure to come to the October general meeting, on Oct. 13th to stock up!  And thanks,

The 2008 annual club picnic was held in  Stephenson Park, in Edmond on September 13, 2008.  It was a rainy day but the shelter house functioned well and even though it was a little gloomy for carving, a good day was had by all in attendance.  there were 24 in attendance.  The picnic part, always the high light, was enjoyed by all.   The most popular dish may have been a desert from Jean Hooper, wife of Dr. James Hooper.  At least it got the most "can I have the recipe?", requests.  So, here, courtesy of the Hooper's, is the recipe......

1 - 16oz. Cool Whip, 2pkg. 8oz Cream Cheese, 1 Cup Powdered Sugar, 1/2 Lemon Squeezed, Cherry Pie filling, Graham Cracker Crust, Mix Cool Whip & Cream Cheese, Add sugar and Lemon Juice.
