Show Chairman Richard Dalke reports that this months General meeting on October 12th is an important one. We will be working on the show at this meeting. We will be putting together packets for the show exhibitors and making sure all the jobs are covered, making table assignments and other important last minute chores. Be sure to attend this general meeting, October 12, come early (5:30 carve in). The official meeting starts at 7 pm at the usual location, City Arts Center, on the fair grounds. You can get those last minute tickets for the $2.00 price! Buy some tickets for your friends and neighbors. Also, don’t forget that you can dramatically increase your chances at the drawing for the hand carved nativity by buying a lot of extra raffle tickets for $1.00 each! See you at the meeting. PS - a special note to all our new club members, be sure to get a spot on the club table to show your work. The cost is only $5 and you can enter up to 3 carvings for judging in the appropriate class. You can also enjoy an hour or two helping out at the club table, greeting our guests and helping to manage the raffles and door prizes and other odd jobs. Evelyn Moore, who has managed our club table at the show for several years will show you the ropes! |

Presidential Papers ** The October meeting of the Board of Directors will be on October 13th, 7:00 PM at Panara Bread on 67th Street and North Western. This is the final meeting prior to the show, so it is really important that all members attend. Should any member have business for the Board, the meeting will be open and each will have an opportunity to take part. ** The Club still has a large supply of spoon, spatula, and other utensil blanks and cut-outs for sale. All revenue from these items go directly to the Club Treasury. The woods are somewhat exotic and make wonderful gifts once carved and finished. ** The "sick list" this month includes Jo Gentry who has been suffering with a very painful and debilitating back disorder. Of course all of us wish her well. Please have a speedy recovery, Jo. ** The 2010 Officer election is coming quickly and the Nominating Committee informs me that their recommendations will be presented to the membership in October. ** It is not too early to begin lining up programs for next year. Is there a carving technique or skill you would like to learn? Perhaps you would like to have a specific demonstration - instruction. Please don’t be shy – several others may have the same interest. Everyone could benefit. We can learn something new, given the chance. (Continued on page 3) |
